EDDA + Coronal Polishing
Take Your Dental Assisting Skills Further
Love working in dentistry and ready to do more? If you’re already a dental assistant, EDDA and coronal polishing training can be an exciting next step. You’ve built your chairside experience—now it’s time to build on it!
What Is EDDA?
EDDA stands for Expanded Duties Dental Assistant. Additional training helps eligible dental assistants develop skills for specific expanded functions, allowing them to take on more responsibility within the dental team.
At Modern Dental Training, our curriculum includes skills such as fabricating temporary crowns and bridges, placing cavity liners and bases, and taking certain impressions. These are practical skills that connect directly to everyday work in a dental office.
Where Does Coronal Polishing Fit In?
Coronal polishing adds another skill to your dental assisting toolbox. Georgia’s guidelines address rubber-cup polishing for patients with primary dentition, or baby teeth. Training includes understanding the procedure’s limits: calculus removal must be performed by a licensed dentist or dental hygienist.
Learning the technique—and knowing when it is appropriate—is part of providing thoughtful patient care.
Training That Connects Learning With Practice
Our 24-hour EDDA + Coronal Polishing program combines online coursework with in-person clinical training:
11 hours of online coursework and assignments
13 hours of hands-on clinical training and final assessments
Students must complete all required coursework and pass the written and practical assessments to receive certification. Tuition is $795, including course materials, training supplies, and certification processing.
Ready for Your Next Step?
Maybe you enjoy learning new techniques. Maybe you’re ready for more variety in your workday. Or maybe you’ve been thinking, “I’m ready to do more!”
